Tree mysteriously felled in Yishun

A tree was mysteriously felled this morning across a pedestrian pathway at Yishun, but thankfully no passer-by's were hurt by this freak accident.

The cause of this incident is unknown. The tree does not seem to have been chopped down by someone since it was a pretty clean cut with no residues of dust. Lightning was another possibility, but there were no burnt marks spotted and the tree did not split from the top of the tree. The most plausible reason will be that corrosion has occured inside the tree, even though evidence of this is not evident from what can be seen.

National Parks Board, on receipt of a call from a resident, arrived with their tools only to determine that the tree, which is not planted along the main road, is the responsibility of Ang Mo Kio Town Council and has since notified them to engage their contractors to clear the debris away.

The tree will eventually be removed altogether as the remaining half is slightly slanted and is deemed unsafe as it may collapse anytime as well.
