Tokyo Day 1

When it comes to the weather, it's the exact opposite of Singapore. You may be running into departmental stores to escape from the heat, but people here go into buildings to get some warmth. It is chiling at night outside especially when winds blow, and during daytime it feels like some kind of massive air-conditioner land.

Taking trains can cost you a bomb. A train ride might cost 160 yen usually, but if you had to change between systems it could cost double at 320 yen (~$4.30)!

The plane arrived in Tokyo an hour early. Enjoy the pictures.

"Follow the plane" mode on the plane.

At Narita Airport.

Going into Narita Express.

Suica cards, something like ez-link, has recently been extended to every line in Tokyo under PASMO.

This costs 120 yen ($1.60) from the vending machine. At the airport, it'll set you back by 280 yen ($3.70) from a cafe kiosk.

Onboard the Narita Express.

At Shinjuku after 84 minutes! This, even though the train had once reached speeds of 130kph and was usually above 100kph.

The alley from my room to Takashimaya Square at Shinjuku.

My dinner at a neighbourhood ramen shop Minowa.

However, I had their pork rice, which is really tasty and cheap at 280 yen.

Roppongi Hills. There's a restaurant called Rojak, as well as HK Tea House here!

Doraemon says Hi to you!

Train timetables.

My takeaway supper from Yoshinoya. 540 yen ($7.20) for the bowl, which has fats in it and is much tastier than the usual fare. Miso soup at 50 yen ($0.65) extra.
